Former King current Trail Blazer Trevor Ariza opts out of NBA restart

Gambar
On Monday, Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertans became the first player to officially sidestep the bubble experience in Orlando and he might have broken the dam. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday, citing sources, that veteran forward Trevor Ariza has also decided against traveling to Disney World in early July, but his reasoning is much more complex than Bertans' impending free agency. Ariza, who is in a custody case over his son, has chosen to step away from the restart to spend a month with the 12-year-old. The 34-year-old forward signed a two-year, $25 million contract with the Sacramento Kings in the summer of 2019. After struggling through the early part of the season, general manager Vlade Divac traded Ariza to the Portland Trail Blazers, along with Wenyen Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan, for Kent Bazemore and Anthony Tolliver at the trade deadline. After moving to Portland, Ariza stepped into the starting lineup for the Blazers and helped solidify their rotation.

What parents are saying about school blazer ban and pressures to scrap branded uniform

Gambar
Parents in Manchester have been sharing their views on proposed changes to school uniform. We reported yesterday how some schools are planning to scrap blazers and ties to help prevent the spread of coronavirus in classrooms. With studies finding the virus can live on surfaces like clothing or towels for up to 72 hours, schools want pupils wearing fresh clothes each day, but say it's unrealistic for parents to wash items such as blazers so frequently. Added to this is the pressure to keep costs down for families and a bill is currently passing through Parliament calling for further guidance for schools on enforcing branded items, which parents often struggle to afford. But while some mums and dads have welcomed the move - and criticised the 'scandalous' prices of some branded products - others say it will make no difference to the potential coronavirus risk, as not all children would wear freshly washed clothes each day anyway. DAVID BOOTH Methinks there's still a bit of anti-Detroit bias out there. You know, Detroit can't compete Tokyo. German cars are more reliable than American. And, of course, the most consistent lament: any automobile designed in the United States of America, by definition, has no soul; U.S. automakers, right down to their lowest-rung engineer, reputed to the grubbiest of, well, money grubbers. And it's not like, for quite some time, such a reputation wasn't well-warranted. Detroit, for far too long, took its customers for granted, its technological superiority as birthright, and its once dominant market position as eternal. Hubris is seldom a viable long-term winning strategy, even if it will — General Motors proof positive of that — fool you into thinking it's a short-term solution. But the General got this message quite some time ago. The days of Cadillacs being nothing more

2021 Chevrolet Blazer makes active safety features standard on most trims

Gambar
A few days ago we heard that Chevrolet would add a Trailering Package to the 2021 Blazer, making a 4,500-pound tow rating available on front-wheel-drive trims with the 3.6-liter V6. As told by GM-Trucks, the list of small tweaks to the new model year won't end there. The biggest change is four of six Blazer trims getting six active safety features standard. Since the crossover's introduction for the 2019 model year, shoppers have had to pay to get lifesavers like automatic emergency braking (AEB) and forward collision alert on the top RS and Premier. Those technologies have been unavailable at any cost on the four lower trims. Next year, a Chevrolet Safety Assist Package groups AEB with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, forward collision alert, and Intellibeam headlights that automatically toggle between high and low beams. For 2021, the Safety Assist package will be standard on the 2LT, 3LT, RS, and
