Rodney Hood declares he will be ‘in a Portland Trail Blazer uniform next year’
Rodney Hood has decisions to make when the NBA reopens for business, but it sounds like his biggest decision — whether or not he will play next season for the Trail Blazers — has already been made.
"One thing I know is I will be in a Portland Trail Blazer uniform next year," Hood said Tuesday in a teleconference with Portland-area media.
Last summer, Hood signed a free-agent contract that paid him $5.7 million this season and carried a $6 million player option for next season. The signing was viewed as a coup for the Blazers, as Hood said he turned down offers for more money from other teams to play in Portland.
What is unclear is whether Hood will be simply exercising his option at the $6 million rate, or whether he will seek an extension. Hood more or less brought up the extension scenario Tuesday, indicating that was the plan when he signed in July 2019.
